Women in Policing

Former WPOP and NBC-CT reporter Cari Shane, now a freelance writer based in Washington, D.C., has an excellent article this month on Slate.com about women in policing.

The evidence suggests women serving on police forces are less likely to resort to the use of force. More female recruits might reduce the number of police involved shootings.

Cari’s article, when paired with last week’s New York Times article on why routine traffic stops often turn fatal, offers a new way to look at the issues.
