Less than six months after WFSB’s Ayah Galal became the first woman wearing a hijab to anchor a local newscast in Connecticut the barrier is falling for others.
In nearby Rochester, New York, Amal Alhelw anchored the news Sunday night for WROC-8. “…first time Rochester saw a hijabi news anchor…,” she Tweeted.
