Face the Facts

NBC Connecticut   Host: Mike Hydeck

Connecticut Attorney General William Tong (D) is here to explain the process of suing the federal government, something he did multiple times during President Trump’s first term. This week, he joined more than a dozen other Democratic attorneys general to challenge the president’s order to end birthright citizenship. It’s personal for Tong, who was born in the U.S. after his parents emigrated from China.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) says President Trump’s pardon of 1,500 January 6  defendants and President Biden’s decision to commute Adrian Peeler’s sentence highlight a need for checks and balances on presidential powers. Blumenthal was Connecticut’s attorney general when Peeler was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder in the shooting deaths of a Bridgeport woman and her 8-year-old son. He says the president should not have absolute power in these matters.
