From a public relations point of view it is pretty hard to screw up being the First Lady of the United States. Everyone wants to see you. Your assignments are largely up to you and largely non-controversial.
But Melania Trump has never seemed at ease in the role. From leaving to tour a disaster scene wearing a jacket that reads “I don’t really care, do you?,” to holding her own news conference to deny charges no one was making against her in the first place, Mrs. Trump does not come across as warm and caring.
Her latest move raises questions about how the Trump family uses the government to benefit themselves. One day after Mrs. Trump criticized Jimmy Kimmel, the FCC has ordered ABC to file early renewal applications for the licenses for eight television stations the network owns. The message from the Trump Administration: If you don’t make Mrs. Trump happy and axe Kimmel, you will be in danger of losing your licenses.
We are pretty sure this is not how it’s supposed to work and we are very sure this does nothing to improve the approval ratings of Trump family enterprises.
