Ryan Caron King and Julianne Varacchi of Connecticut Public Media are among the winners of this year’s Poynter Institute Journalism Prizes.
The pair won in the category of Distinguished Reporting on Poverty for their Connecticut Public Television documentary titled Where Then Shall We Go? which documented an effort to fight homelessness in New Haven. Work on the project spanned two years.
King and Varacchi came out on top in a category that included entries from The Atlantic, NBC News, and Hearst Connecticut Media.
