Cumulus Media, an audio entertainment company which owns nearly 400 radio stations across the country(and has owned properties in Connecticut in the past) has filed for bankruptcy protection in Texas.
The company says “unrelenting changes” in the marketplace – led by the impact of digital media on conventional radio stations – have made it impossible for the company to pay off its debt. The company is looking to erase $600 million in debt through re-structuring.
