It would appear state Senator Martha Marx(D) has won the first round in her battle with radio talk show host Lee Elci who has launched a campaign to replace her.
Elci’s employer, WJJF 94.9 FM, has reached an agreement with Marx and Elci that will keep his morning show off the air until after Election Day. Elci told The Day of New London that he hates the deal and complained his free speech is being “squelched.” The agreement does not prevent Elci from exercising his free speech rights on the campaign trail and the station can interview him as part of its coverage of the election.
Last month, after Elci filed papers to run for office against Marx, she immediately requested equal time under federal law and said she was prepared to host her own show on the station. Talks to make that deal fell apart at week’s end.
