The bad news always gets dropped late Friday. Hearst announced 44 cuts at its  Connecticut newspapers and the newsrooms haven’t been spared.  Only in Bridgeport has the details of who has been laid off at the Connecticut Post and who is living to see another day.

According to Rob Varnon’s story in the Post,

The affected employees met with management throughout the day. The rest of the workforce at Hearst’s four daily newspapers, the Connecticut Post, The Advocate of Stamford, Greenwich Time, The News-Times of Danbury and the six weeklies of the Brooks Community Newspaper group, was told of the plan in an e-mailed letter.

Hearts plans to eliminate another 80 positions within the next three months.
