Former NHL and WHA hockey legend Gordie Howe is dead.

In addition to a long career with the Detroit Red Wings, Howe played several seasons with the New England Whalers and one season when the team joined the NHL as the Hartford Whalers. He still holds the record for most regular season games played(1,767).

While playing in Hartford Howe lived in Glastonbury.

On the same day the nation is watching the memorial service for Muhammad Ali there will likely be lots of media remembrances this weekend in Connecticut of Howe  and his time in Hartford.

Howe – known as Mr. Hockey – was 88.
