As The Day of New London approaches its sesquicentennial year(2031), its commitment to independent journalism remains strong. The latest evidence is a string of new hires and promotions meant to position the paper to continue as a leading source of news and information in southeastern Connecticut. We have so many changes to report that we have decided to split this post into two parts. One today. One tomorrow.
First follow up on a story we told you about earlier this summer….
Long time Day photographers Dana Jensen and Sarah Gordon recently left the paper. Jensen has retired and Gordon has joined the CTMirror. Their former positions have now been filled.
Brian Delk, who was graduated this year from Rutgers University, was the editor in chief of his school paper. In addition to his photography, Delk has written for Bloomberg, Business Insider and New York Amsterdam News.
Cal Cary is The Day’s second photography hire this month. Cary is from northern Virginia where he has been working as a freelance photographer for The Washington Post, the Associated Press and Prince Williams Times covering Capitol Hill.
As photographers for The Day, they will be contributing their writing, still photography and video.
