Previous speculation has been that Tribune (parent company of the Hartford Courant and FoxCT) will keep its TV stations and sell off its publishing properties. Perhaps that’s wrong?

–Chicago Tribune p. 1, “New CEO welcomes Tribune Co. challenge: Liguori to focus on content development in post-bankruptcy era,” by Robert Channick : “Television executive Peter Liguori was named the new chief executive of Tribune Co. on Thursday, taking the reins of the reorganized Chicago-based media company weeks after its emergence from bankruptcy. In a widely expected move, Liguori, 52, a former top executive at Fox Broadcasting and Discovery Communications, was confirmed by TribuneCo.’s new seven-member board, which met for the first time Thursday in Los Angeles. … [D]espite speculation by analysts and industry insiders that the company was unlikely to retain its full portfolio of TV stations and newspapers, including WGN Ch. 9 and the Chicago Tribune, Liguori said he is hoping to keep Tribune Co.’s broadcasting and publishing businesses together under one roof.”
