Standard General, the company in the process of acquiring the TEGNA chain of television stations, is re-assuring its future employees that it has no intention to reduce staff once it takes over.

An internal memo says Standard General told the FCC it does not plan to make cuts and that “To the contrary, we intend to compete vigorously in all markets” which will mean a continued investment in local news.

TEGNA owns Fox 61 and CW20 in Connecticut. The Standard General purchase could be approved by the FCC by the end of this year.
