Sinclair Stalled

A merger that had always had the scent of a done deal has been stalled by the FCC.

Citing “serious concerns,” the FCC has put on hold approval of the Sinclair Broadcast Group plan to buy Tribune Media, owner of Fox 61 and WCCT in Connecticut. The FCC chairman says he is concerned that plans by Sinclair to sell off some stations to avoid cross-ownership issues are nothing more than a ruse designed to allow Sinclair to retain control over those stations.
