The Day has reported that Pawcatuck-based biweekly newspaper The Resident has closed permanently after 30 years in the business.

Editor and publisher Alexis Ann told The Day that the business model was unsustainable amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Resident, whose circulation was about 27,000, “counted on circulating copies at 1,500 locations in the region, many of which are now closed because of the pandemic,” according to The Day.

Ann is open to selling the business and said the paper is still making a profit.
