A significant retirement is coming soon to NPR.
Jackie Northam does not stand out on air like Eleanor Beardsley does or Sylvia Paggioli did, but Northam has been covering foreign affairs for more than forty years and regular listeners will recognize her name and her work. She joined NPR in 2000 as the network’s national security correspondent.
Over the weekend long time NPR reporter and host Don Gonyea interviewed Northam as she looks forward to her final weeks on the job. At the end of the interview, Gonyea chokes up as he wishes his friend and colleague well.
