Former Hartford Courant reporter Eric Lipton, is one of the four New York Times reporters subpoenaed Friday night by the Trump Justice Department over a story they published last week citing the security deficiencies of the new Air Force One.

The subpoenas were issued by Jay Clayton, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, who was recently nominated by President Trump to be the next director of national intelligence. Some of the reporters were served at home by FBI agents.

According to the latest reporting from the Times, Trump was angry that the paper questioned the readiness of the plane and demanded something be done. FBI Director Kash Patel was summoned to the White House Friday where he spent eight hours developing a game plan to go after the paper. The reporters have been ordered to appear before a grand jury on Wednesday. The Times is of course, protesting and vowing to defend its right to publish the truth.
