Former WTNH reporter and University of New Haven communications staffer Renee Chmiel has found her way back on camera. She’s hosting a series of videos highlighting economic development projects underway in San Diego, where she is working now. The videos will be posted on the city’s social media channels soon.
In a column published last week, former Journal Inquirer managing editor Chris Powell raised an important issue we should all be concerned about; the secretive nature of immigration round ups.
Powell first analyzed the issue in terms of Democratic political strategy, but his observations are equally true for news coverage of anti-immigration policing. The press, in particular, should be out front in demanding transparency when it comes to the use of police forces in the United States.
