Former Day of New London and Hearst Connecticut reporter Ted Mann is joining Bloomberg to cover money in Washington, D.C.

He was recently laid off after a long run with the Wall St. Journal where he is credited with breaking the Bridgegate story that severely damaged the reputation of former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. He was offered an opportunity to return to the WSJ, but turned it down, according to Politico.

In Connecticut, Mann is remembered for his long “fly on the wall” story about the first year of the administration of former Governor Dan Malloy. Mann was allowed behind the scenes access for a full year before anything was published.

In 2015 Mann married Annie Karni who is now a congressional reporter for the New York Times.
