During Thursday’s show, Pastor Will Marotti, announced that today(Friday) will be his final broadcast on WTIC-AM. Marotti has been hosting the 9a.m. – 11a.m. time slot and has previously occupied other shifts on the station once known as The Pulse of New England.
Although Marotti said he is leaving for personal reasons, specifically a busy schedule, his departure comes the same week we learned of layoffs in the news department and other programming changes that seem to indicate extreme belt tightening.
WTIC-AM is owned by Audacy, Inc. and insiders tell The Laurel to watch carefully as to whether Marotti is replaced with local programming or more syndicated programming. The betting is that Audacy will go with the least expensive option which would probably not be locally produced.
