Vinnie Penn, the former KC-101 morning jock, will return to the local airwaves on January 18 when his new show debuts on WELI-AM from 6 to 9 a.m.  According to Joe Amarante of the New Haven Register…

The affable, earthy and glib Penn, who teamed with now-megastar Glenn Beck at WELI’s sister station WKCI-FM several years ago, comes back to Radio Towers Park thanks to Clear Channel exec Mike Wheeler.

Penn’s show will begin Jan. 18. In a phone chat this week, he said not only will he be replacing Don Imus as morning voice on the otherwise-syndicated station, but he’ll once again be the opening act for Beck, who is heard on WELI at 10 a.m.

  1. I’ve had the good fortune to talk with Vinnie on a number of occasions. Okay, he may seem a little nuts. Okay, maybe a LOT of nuts…but he is an affable fellow who is very smart. The larger question is whether or not CC is actually going to spend a thin dime to promote him and his show. My guess? Not a chance. They are collectively over their eyeballs in debt and have NO money for promotions, advertising on OTHER than their own stations, billboards, buscards etc.. Time was you spent money on your talent and on promoting them. I wish him NOTHING but the best and hope he does well. He was the brains and the real talent at the KC101 morning show….not Glenn what’s his name…but not too many people knew it.
