Could it be that a face-saving exit strategy has been found for all sides in the question over the future of Gayle King?
The New York Post, which has made an unsuccessful habit of regularly reporting on the former WFSB anchor’s demise at CBS, has a new take on the story. The Post is now reporting that CBS News Editor in Chief Bari Weiss is proposing that King take on the role of special correspondent at a greatly reduced salary.
The conundrum for CBS News has been the delta between King’s popularity with the audience and her salary. If true, the special correspondent scenario would allow CBS to keep King in its talent pool while dramatically reducing costs. A win-win for the network, but would it be a win for King?
