The Laurel is chronicling the major news concerning coronavirus in Connecticut. Follow along as the coverage continues, one day at a time. 

Here are the major news updates from today:

  • Today, Governor Lamont confirmed the second death in the state due to COVID19. The patient was a 91-year-old man from New Canaan and was being treated at Norwalk Hospital.
  • Jackson Laboratory in Farmington announced that it will begin diagnostic COVID19 testing next week in an effort to help the state ramp up testing and learn more about the nature of the new coronavirus.
  • Governor Lamont ordered the closure of all salons and tattoo and piercing parlors effective Friday at 8 p.m.
  • The state’s presidential primary has been rescheduled for June 2.
  • Access Health CT added a special enrollment period for those uninsured that began today and continues until April 2. Coverage begins April 1.
  • Yesterday, Governor Lamont joined the governors of NY, NJ and PA to close all indoor portions of large retail shopping malls, amusement parks and bowling alleys starting today at 8 p.m.
