The man who started publishing “America’s longest continuously published newspaper” is getting an award.

Thomas Green, the late founder of the (Connecticut) Hartford Courant, is slated to posthumously receive the Yankee Quill Award under the academy’s historic recognition category.

The Yankee Quill Award is presented annually by the Academy of New England Journalists through the auspices of the New England Society of Newspaper Editors Foundation.  It is considered the highest individual honor awarded by fellow journalists in the region.
