A World Without Kain

One of Connecticut’s best is retiring; After 26 years at WFSB, reporter/storyteller/wonderful guy Dan Kain is saying goodbye to local television. He’s had an incredible run in TV land. This from WFSB News Director Dana Neves:

In editorial meetings, so often Dan is our “tie-breaker” when we are deciding the merits of a story. He is smart and funny and can see a story for what it is … or (even better) isn’t. If you are lucky, really lucky you get to tell people you worked alongside one the “greats”.   We are all so lucky to be able to say that we worked with the great Dan Kain.

Dan’s last day is Friday, June 7th. We’ll all miss you.

  1. there is no such thing as retirement in the media , they didnt want to renew his contract or they low ball him , this is typical wfsb ploy ask deb kent and others who are out of the business now

  2. Congrats to Dan on 26 years at The One and Only TV3! It was always a pleasure to work with him!!! I had the honor of winning an Emmy with him and as we walked down the aisle to receive our gold statues, Dan exclaimed-as only Dan can-“Isn’t this a hoot?!?!”

  3. (I’m told there’s 8 comments but can only see 2 so I apiolgoze if I’m stepping on somebody’s comment.)The freshest bullshit to hit the shovel in what passes for a conversation in America’s public square these days is the natural right inalienable, i.e. not contingent upon the laws, customs, or beliefs of any particular culture or government, and therefore universal to possess a firearm. I shouldn’t be surprised, really, in a world where adultery is considered an impeachable offense but murder is not where 536 out of 800 people think video games pose a bigger safety threat than guns [] a world where torture has become so popular Americans flock to movies glorifying its practice and treat the propagandists responsible like superstars or a world in which a Christian Nation seeks to balance its budget by throwing poor people in the street, taking the food off their plates, and deny them healthcare for being too poor.So don’t be surprised, Susan, that when the conversation turns to safety and security , there will be no mention of the , or the 60 people killed in mass shootings before the tragedy at Newtown, or the 1600 people, (), including 120 children and teens, killed in gun violence since the tragedy at Newtown. That data, apparently, in our modern world, is irrelevant to the subjects of safety and security when talking about guns.

  4. Totally agree! The worst is when you have an infant and everoyne tells you it gets harder! What is wrong with people? Also, soooo not true! It’s easier everyday! I have a 5 yr old and a 3 yr old, and it’s sooooo much easier than a screaming infant! Love the post thanks!

  5. School District BoundaryThis is unreal! What shkoced me the most was the difference in both enrollment and geographic size of rural school districts. I actually clicked on Springfield, MA because that is where I grew up. I compared it to Fairfax County, VA. The simple fact that Fairfax enrolls 171 thousand students to Springfields 25 thousand is shocking. It would seem that if school districts are large, than the same education would be received by more students, thus leveling the playing field. Also, because the maps are so tight around the urban areas it almost appears as if these districts are excluded on purpose.
