Wow. This is harder to say than I thought it would be. The column below is either my final or penultimate column for the Hartford Courant where I’ve been columnizing for 35 of the last 36 years and where I’ve been doing something or other since 1975, including 19 years full time. The place is in my blood. Please know that this is all OK. It’s my choice; there’s something else I want to do. I leave with nothing but good thoughts for the institution that gave me so many wonderful opportunities. And they’re still doing great work despite all the challenges of the modern journalism ecosystem. More later.
