As expected, CBS Evening News co-anchor Maurice Dubois has announced he will be leaving the anchor desk. His last day will be December 18. Reportedly that is one day before John Dickerson’s last day as co-anchor of the program(decades ago television journalists insisted on calling their newscasts “programs” to avoid calling them “shows.”)
The departure of DuBois and Dickerson, who have been co-anchors for less than a year, gives Bari Weiss, the new editor in chief of CBS News, the opportunity to set the news division on a new course.
If the New York Post is to be believed, CBS is “scrambling” to sign morning co-host Tony Dokoupil as anchor of the Evening News. We should note that the Post has incorrectly broken the news that Gayle King(WFSB) is leaving CBS at least five times in the last five years. Eventually they will be right.
