Former New Haven Register reporter Chris Hoffman tells a strange tale of the Trump White House and the families of the victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school.

For some reason, the White House is refusing to simply acknowledge that the shooting occurred despite a written request from the Newtown Board of Education.

Writing in the Columbia Journalism Review, Hoffman reveals the White House continues to create controversy for itself where there should be none:

White House Director of Media Affairs Helen Aguirre Ferre responded to questions about the letter from CJR with a one-sentence statement: “President Trump has been quite clear that we, as a nation, are united in condemning hate and evil in all its forms.”

Ferre did not respond to follow-up questions, including whether Trump affirms that the Sandy Hook killings happened, and whether he condemns those who say otherwise.
