The Laurel staff recommends you consider making The Political Scene from The New Yorker part of your regular podcast diet. The weekly show is hosted by New Yorker writers Jane Mayer, Evan Osnos, and Susan Glasser.
What makes the podcast different from most chat-casts is the long experience and expertise of the hosts. Sometimes they bring in a guest, but usually Mayer, Osnos and Glasser analyze the news on their own in a knowledgeable and thoughtful way.
Mayer is a veteran investigative reporter who has been with the magazine since 1995. Osnos has been covering politics and foreign affairs for the magazine since 2008. Glasser writes the weekly column; Letter from Trump’s Washington. The combination makes for smart analysis. The podcast drops on Friday evenings.
