Ted Turner, the creator of CNN is dead at the age of 87.
Turner launched CNN in 1980 which in turn created what today is known as the “24-hour news cycle.” In many interviews over the years Turner explained the simplicity behind his idea in different ways, including taking the concept of all-news radio and putting it on television. He also said he felt network television news was failing to deliver the latest information he needed in a timely manner and he figured others “must feel the same way.”
Turner called the creation of CNN the “greatest achievement” of his life.
