Follow up now on a story we told you about earlier this week.

Several national news organizations are reporting that Tom Llamas is the likely successor to Lester Holt, who announced this week he will retire as anchor of NBC Nightly News later this year.

The reports all cite anonymous sources that say the race is between Llamas and former WFSB anchor Hallie Jackson, but that Llamas is almost certainly the winner. Other sources are quoted as saying Llamas was hired to specifically to replace Holt when the time came and he has been groomed for the position.

The Laurel has been unable to independently confirm this reporting.
