With exquisite professional diplomacy, Anderson Cooper has announced he is leaving his role as a correspondent for the CBS News broadcast 60 Minutes, but continuing his career at CNN.

Cooper has been with 60 Minutes for twenty years. In a statement, he said his decision will allow him to spend more time with his two sons. The network thanked him for his service and offered praise for his work.

Cooper’s departure is sure to raise questions about whether it is related to the leadership of CBS News under Bari Weiss, but on that score a spokesperson for Cooper offered “no additional comment.”
