Nexstar(WTNH) says it has closed its deal with Tegna(Fox 61) worth $6.2 billion. The transaction combines the two station groups into a company with 259 stations covering eighty-percent of U.S. television markets, including Hartford/New Haven.
Approval from the FCC came in the same week that Connecticut and seven other states sued to block the merger claiming it will reduce local news coverage.
