Mike Hydeck

It pains us to post this – we’ve known Mike Hydeck forever (since his first stint at WFSB in 1992 as a very young guy working in news edit). But we’re told by several people that Mike has made it known that his tenure as weekday morning anchor at WFSB is coming to an end soon.

  1. He’s being FORCED OUT..another completely underhanded move by WFSB….a bad choice too, since he was the only person who actually doesn’t sing and dance during the AM show…now it will be a complete farce of a show.

  2. Mike was a great asset to channel 3, They should have got rid of Irene. I guess he was getting tired of scot stealing air time. They should just give him his own weather show at 430 . Bring back MIKE. Now i have to find another channel to watch. Use to watch NBC 30 but changed to wfsb now where to go. good luck mike

  3. Mike really was the only reason to watch WFSB in the am. I did tire of Scot’s antics, but what got me to switch channels was Irene. She can’t read the teleprompter and has atl east one trip up every day. I really liked Teresa as a reporter, but that change for the traffic job -ugh. (Does she need to stay out of the tanning salon or what?) Switched to NBC 30, but am moving on since they seem to be getting a dose of the stupids. Hate to say it, but I like the NYC stations better.

  4. Mike has the ability to deliver the news in a highly professional manner while still connecting with the viewer. I used to be a huge WFSB morning show and I actually enjoyed the light banter. Unfortunately, the antics and ego trips on the morning show became unbearable — now that they’ve driven Mike out I will only watch WVIT.

I’d love to see Mike on the NBC 30 morning team. If not, why not pair him with Diana Perez on Saturday am.

  5. Mike’s depature has sent me scurrying to find another station to watch. Scot’s overwhelming antics and his neverending references about his partner, has taken as serious toll on me. Not to mention his concerts and his constant interruptions when the other anchors are attempting to report the news. Mike was the ray of sunshine. I enjoyed his “Cool School” segments, but most of all his professionalism. I pray he will find another station that can appreciate your professionalism. We will miss you Mike!

  6. I will truly miss Mike – He was a great anchor – As far as Teresa – she has no class when selecting her wardrobe.

Eric (very quick and smart) and Irene make a good team however, will still miss Mike.

I enjoy Scot – cracks me up – but the birthday thing is annoying.

    One more comment:

Keep Heather out in the field she is a louse anchor on the weekends – Curtis is OK.

Put in Tina Martin on the weekends – she is very smooth, has a great voice and makes a good appearance.

  7. So sorry to see Mike Hydeck is no longer on the morning show. He was great, very professional and I loved his laugh, he was honest and sincere and did not show off like Scot.

Now I am anxiously awaiting Mike to appear on another station, nothing to watch on WFSB anymore!

  8. Sorry to see Mike go. The combo of Mike and Irene kept me watching no matter how annoying Scot became. I agree with the comment from Celeste on putting Tina on weekends. Tina is well spoken and much more poised than Heather who cannot get through a sentence without bumbling her words.

  9. Channel 61 has the best morning show. I love Sarah and Logan. – I’m sure Irene is a very nice person, but I find it difficult to watch her. She cannot read a prompter. And here eyes are creepy. I agree with the person who says Dennis and Kara should go. They run the station (Irene is right there in their litlle click, heck they’re neighbors). Kara is worse then Irene.

  10. WFSB has never been loyal to their staff, especially their anchor’s. It’s one of the reasons I don’t watch them much anymore. I”m not a Union person but if any place needs a union, its WFSB. Mike Hydek brought a nice balance to the morning show. He never over sensationalized any story unlike some of his colleagues (ie. Al Terzi, Denise). He always presented the story for what it’s worth. Terzi makes a little rainstorm sound like the Perfect Storm. Or a house fire sound like WW III. Makes everything sound like a life or death situation. Tina is excellent. She just goes about her job in the most professional manner possible. She’s a good person too. I was walking into my local YMCA at 5:30am in the morning for a workout. She was standing outside ready to report a story. I was about 75′ from where she was standing. She looked over at me and smiled and gave me a wave. I found it to be very sincere. I was surprised because she always looks so serious and professional while she is reporting. I thought, “What a nice gesture on her part”. She really made my day. I wish more people would be like that. Scot…needs to tone it down and enough with the singing. His voice is poor at best. Do we really need the weather updates every 10 minutes? Does the weather change that much? And really, a rain storm is a rain storm is a rain storm. One would think that the world is going to end with each storm. And enough of him walking into Teresa’s shot when she is doing her traffic report. Why is it always about him? And like the weather updates, do we need the traffic updates every 10 minutes. I think weather once every half hour as well as traffic is plenty. Fill up those slots with Sports. Unfortunately, it’s really been a long time since they had a good sports reporter. I liked Joe Tessitore. Another quality reporter that disappeared. The only way things will change at WFSB is when ownership changes.

  11. I really want to know if he decided to leave or if they decided for him. He was my favorite anchor and there was, to the best of my knowledge, no goodbye’s or anything. He just disappeared which is unfair to him and to the thousands of viewers who watched him in the morning. If they dumped him I will switch to WTIC Fox immediately.

  12. Yet again, WFSB shows their extraordinary lack of class by being a poor sport and yanking her from the lineup before her contract expires. They have done it over and over and over again to a long list of quality people. And they wonder why people leave WFSB? If WFSB was a such a wonderful place to work, they wouldn’t leave. So the fact that many do leave says it all. I am not big on unions, but if any place needed a union, it’s WFSB.

  13. Unbelievable…..Mike was the only reason I would watch WFSB……Scott and Teresa should have worn clown suits and piled out of a VW every morning. What a disaster….Scott always turned my stomach. Geez! WFSB please dump the fool…I won’t be back til you do….Fox 61 much better and in HD as well

  14. I LIKE SCOTT, I LIKED MIKE, I LIKED TERESA, I HOPE MIKE AND TERESA FIND SUCCESS AT ANOTHER STATION.. I ONLY TURN THE TO ANOTHER STATION ON THE WEEKENDS,,, IS HEATHER RELATED TO ONE OF THE OWNERS,, I SERIOULSY DON’T KNOW HOW SHE KEEPS HER JOB, SHE A TERRIBLE JOURNALIST,, SHES DOESN’T SEEM TO CONNECT WITH THE STORY AND SEEMS VACANT MOST OF THE TIME.. ITS LIKE SHES READING BUT DOESN’T UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPT,, GET YOUT ACT TOGETHER WFSB,, I WISH EVERYONE WELL , JUST BE PROFESSIOANL,

  15. MIke was the only reason for watching WFSB morning news. Scott is an idiot who wears on you and at times(most) can make you cringe with his sexual preference inuendos. Irene flat out is HORRIBLE! When my daughter was 10 she could read better than Irene. Irene breaks sentences where they shouldn’t and reads through where she should pause. Where is the justice to let Mike go????
