As previously announced, Stamford native Jen Psaki will begin hosting the 9p.m. hour on MSNBC May 6.
The plan for Rachel Maddow to return to one night a week after Trump’s first 100 days remains in effect. Psaki’s new hour long show will be called The Briefing with Jen Psaki which has a much better ring to it than Inside with Jen Psaki, the title of her current shows.
Psaki was President Biden’s first press secretary, was a spokesman for the State Department during the Obama administration and has worked on several Democratic campaigns.
Observation: The rise of Psaki comes with the loss of Alex Wagner who has been hosting a first 100 days podcast for NBC. The podcast started off strong with Wagner using many of the reporting techniques employed by the Showtime program The Circus, that she was a part of, but in recent weeks has sounded much less ambitious leading us to wonder what her long term plans are.
