Internally the announcements have been made about some programming changes scheduled to take effect next week at MSNBC.

So far, they are these:

Kate Snow to anchor the 3p – 5p block and assume the role of Sunday evening anchor for NBC Nightly News.

Chuck Todd begins anchoring the 5p hour in two weeks in an effort to bring Meet the Press cred to MSNBC.

Brian Williams will be standing by in a special studio during the daytime hours to anchor breaking news coverage. He starts the first day of the Pope’s visit to the U.S. – September 22nd.

No word yet on the 6p hour or whether Williams will get an hour of his own during early evening hours.

We’re also expecting a one hour expansion of Morning Joe to 10a.m.

The changes are being billed as part of a new direction for the network focused on breaking news during the day and “smart” opinion and analysis at night.
