A little more than a year after getting the job, Connecticut journalist Jacqueline Smith has been fired as the ombudsman for Stars and Stripes. The independent news organization covers the U.S. military and reaches well over one million readers every day.
Smith was not given a reason for her dismissal, but she has some ideas based on her approach to the job.
Before joining Stars and Stripes, Smith worked for The Meriden Record-Journal, The Danbury News-Times and eventually Hearst Connecticut Media.
