Chris Wallace, formerly of Fox News, announced to a surprised audience this weekend that he is heading to CNN+ after eighteen years hosting Fox’s Sunday public affairs show.

Wallace’s move is the third high profile departure in the cable news world in the last four weeks and more are expected in the months ahead. Brian Williams left MSNBC last week under his own power, while Chris Cuomo was shown the door at CNN over ethical issues.

Although Wallace made no mention of internal tensions at Fox News between the remaining real journalists and the Tucker Carlson (Trinity College) led insurrection supporters and Covid deniers, there has been lots of speculation over the last 24 hours that Wallace just couldn’t take anymore. At CNN+, which launches next year, Wallace will be hosting a daily news show covering issues beyond politics.
