It is official, Dr. Mel has announced his retirement. We wish him nothing but health and happiness.

News 8’s Chief Meteorologist, Dr. Mel Goldstein, is retiring. After 25 years at WTNH, Dr. Mel is leaving to focus on his health. He was diagnosed with a form of cancer, called multiple myeloma, approximately 16 years ago and has been courageously battling the disease ever since.
Dr. Mel will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues at News 8. “In my many travels around different TV stations across the US, I’ve never met a more generous, kind hearted and positive human being than Mel,” said Mark Higgins, Vice-President and General Manager of WTNH/WCTX. “During my two years at News 8, I would meet on a regular basis with Mel around 8am and talk about many things…not just weather, but mostly about his desire to help and benefit others.”
