Boston and Brooklyn based photographer Ann Hermes has been working on a project of special interest to newspaper journalists. The photographer, who has worked around the world for the Christian Science Monitor and several other news outlets, has been documenting the disappearing pieces of the media landscape of the last century.

From the last Morse Code station to a current emphasis on local newspaper newsrooms.

Hermes says her work on fading newsrooms began in 2016 with the growth of the use of the term “fake news.” Having worked in local newsrooms, Hermes said, that phrase “couldn’t be further from the truth.”
