The Hartford Courant’s parent company, CT1 Media, has announced that it will be trimming newsroom jobs in order to ‘streamline the paper’s production’. Though the report does not disclose how many jobs would be lost or over what time period, Courant sportswriter Zac Boyer (@ZacBoyer) notes via Twitter that layoff notices may have already gone out.

The first day of vacation is supposed to be enjoyable. Hearing what happened to several hard-working colleagues today made it anything but.

The Hartford Courant Alumni site links to Publisher Rich Graziano’s memo to the staff and also names some of the longtime employees who have been let go.
