Kirk Varner, the VP/News Director for LIN Television’s WTNH & WCTX duopoly in New Haven, has just been named News Director for WKRC-TV, the CBS affiliate in Cincinnati. Kirk has been the leader at News 8 for nearly nine years; among his previous jobs were four years as News Director for SportsCenter at ESPN. He will start in Cincinnati after the beginning of the year and we wish him well.

Thanks for this. Let me get my kneejerk fmineist reaction out of the way and ask: Why use the equivalent of the truck mud flap reflector’s image of a woman to pose with a gun? No need to answer. That’s just me, being a turd.Having cleared the table of that, thank you for this. I don’t agree with it. I think the idea that physics is the only thing to stop a lawbreaker like the Sandy Hook shooter is an interesting premise, but that doesn’t take into account the real and actual human reaction to such carnage. Maybe someone who is trained can react and not increase the carnage, but I think pretending everyone with a gun can be a good deterrent is not factual.I’d argue more, but I have a huge, honking salad in front of me and I’m hungry. I do appreciate the conversation.
