Anderson Cooper turned in his last 60 Minutes story Sunday evening as the show and CBS News face uncertain times.
60 Minutes Overtime – Anderson Cooper Farewell
Cooper announced a few months ago that he would be leaving citing a desire to spend more time with his children. He will continue working for CNN. Cooper’s departure from 60 Minutes has been handled diplomatically since the decision was made, but most observers believe his choice to leave was influenced by the appointment of Bari Weiss as editor in chief of CBS News and the network’s takeover by Paramount Skydance.
There have been concerns that Weiss has been appointed to steer CBS News to the right politically and there are fears she is hoping to dramatically change 60 Minutes in the next season. CBS produced a farewell video of Cooper’s twenty years at 60 Minutes and toward the end of the story Cooper makes a plea to allow the show to continue as it has since its inception.
