When it comes to newspaper endorsements, the candidacy of Donald Trump has led to many firsts this year.

The first time in more than 100 years the New Hampshire Union-Leader has not endorsed a Republican. The first time the Arizona Republic has endorsed a Democrat. The first time the Detroit News has not endorsed a major party candidate. And so on.

Friday, for the first time in its history, USA Today took sides. They are urging readers to reject Trump:

This year, the choice isn’t between two capable major party nominees who happen to have significant ideological differences. This year, one of the candidates — Republican nominee Donald Trump — is, by unanimous consensus of the Editorial Board, unfit for the presidency.
