Troubled Day

In a rather stark and straight-forward story published Wednesday, The Day of New London has announced some changes in reaction to a decline in advertising revenue.

Starting today(Thursday) The Day will go from a four section paper to two sections Thursday-Saturday. The paper says the changes are being made because of staff reductions – that include the elimination of three newsroom positions – all brought on by a decline in revenue for both the daily paper and the company’s weekly newspapers.

The Day says it has kept its “core news reporting staff in place” and is committed to continuing the mission of providing local news. In combination with the recent move to a smaller New London headquarters location, the paper says it has now “right-sized” and has a “pathway to future profitability.”
