Stocking Stuffers

Is it just us or did every day this week feel like it should be Friday?

As we head into the Christmas weekend here are a few bits and bobs…

The Day of New London’s Sten Spinella is leaving after more than three years with the paper. After covering state politics at The Day he is heading to the Berkshire Eagle beginning at the start of the year.

Some Laurel readers will remember WFSB’s old motto: “From the Berkshires to the Sound.  And every where in between…” Spinella is going from the Sound to the Berkshires and seems content with the decision.

Ryan Chichester, a 2018 graduate of Quinnipiac University, will make his on-air debut on WFAN Saturday morning at 2a.m. If you’re up early on Christmas Eve – tune in.

Former NBC CT alum Seth Lemon is leaving Audacy in Los Angeles, where he was managing editor for digital platforms at KNX, for Spectrum News 1 California where he will co-host the morning news.

We’ve heard various reports of cost cutting and buyout offers at NBC stations across the country. NECN this week cut its Vermont bureau meaning Jack Thurston is out of a job covering Vermont for the network and NBC 10.

Meanwhile, NBC’s new midday news offering NBC News Daily, is apparently doing very well in the ratings for its day part.

Jennifer Crompton is retiring after 34 years at WMUR in New Hampshire – the most important TV station in the country every four years.

Long-time CNN Pentagon reporter Barbara Starr reported for duty one last time Wednesday and received a standing ovation on her retirement from her colleagues and DOD workers at her last news briefing.

With the Christmas holiday upon us:
