Public Radio Diversity

A project to bring diversity to a handful of public radio newsrooms is receiving some criticism from the inside.

According to Current.org, some believe the basic premise of the program, which includes WNPR in Hartford, is flawed. Four stations are recruiting reporters to cover issues of race from a local and national perspective, with an implied emphasis on hiring people of color to fill the roles. Some see this as a “showy” attempt to address a bigger problem inside the public radio world.
