Several weeks after closing its deal to acquire Tegna(Fox 61), Nexstar(WTNH) is still in court fighting off a challenge to the merger from the government of Connecticut and seven other states.
Nexstar was in court this week asking a federal judge to require the states to put up a $150 million bond to cover the expenses of defending against the lawsuit. The states are arguing that the merger between Nexstar and Tegna reduces competition in local markets – like Connecticut – and diminishes the quality of local news coverage.
