Word is that the departure of Natalie Morales from the Today Show will mark the end of the position known as “news reader.”
From now on Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie, the hosts of the show, will read the news during the first hour and hand off to reporters in the field.
Morales, formerly of NBC CT, is leaving for Access Hollywood, but will continue to be a west coast presence on Today.
