Kaitlyn McGrath. A native of Pittsburgh, PA – the South Carolina based weather forecaster is making her way to New England to join NBC CT as a weekend meteorologist.

NBC CT. The First Alert Weather Center is not the only piece of the WVIT news operation staffing up in Q4. Justin Schecker is joining the station as a reporter based in New Haven and Jennifer Joas is joining the team as a morning reporter. Schecker worked most recently in Arizona. Joas was in Pennsylvania.

Katie Couric. The Global News Anchor for Yahoo was in West Hartford last Friday to speak at the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford “Voices” luncheon. We told you about this last week, but wanted to once again use the title “Global News Anchor” in a sentence.

Maryellen Fillo and Couric

Patrick Raycraft and Alaine Griffin. The Hartford Courant journalists are back in Connecticut after covering the Pope’s trip to the U.S. Their selfie with the Pope is still making the rounds – two weeks later – on Facebook. As you can tell this was near the end of the papal visit and the Pope looks a little flat.

Ken Krayeske. The Hartford attorney, writer and journalist who once described himself as a “provocateur,” has announced he will stop writing his weekly column for the Hartford News at the end of this year. In the October 1 edition of the paper, Krayeske cited the challenges of his professional life and his wife’s political career(Wildaliz Bermudez is a candidate for city council) as among the reasons to step away from the column. As he wrote in this week’s column some will celebrate his decision and others will mourn. And that’s probably the result any columnist should strive for.

Lowell Weicker. The former governor, U.S. Senator and quote machine spanning the decades, made news this weekend by endorsing Mary Jane Foster for mayor of Bridgeport…adding that Joe Ganim, the former mayor, is a “real felon.” Which leads us to ask: Is there any other kind?
