Former Waterbury Republican-American reporter Maura(Kelly) Lannan has been elected as President of the  Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. Board of Education. Since leaving Waterbury, Maura has worked with the Chicago Tribune Media Group, the Associated Press, AARP, worked as a freelance writer, and is currently a web editor with the National Guard.

Former NBC Connecticut and News 12 reporter Tara Joyce has started a new position as communications director for Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale, New York. Kellenberg is a Roman Catholic college preparatory school.

For those looking for an update on the career of former NBC Connecticut reporter Jane Caffrey. We can now reliably report that she has been assigned to co-anchor the weekend evening news on ABC15 in Phoenix. As you might expect, her co-anchor will be Ford Hatchett.

West Hartford native and New York Times correspondent Michael Grynbaum is out with a new book on the role of Conde Nast publications in American life and culture. The book tracks the company’s history, rise, and decline.

CT Public Media Chief Executive Mark Contreras is vowing to increase fundraising efforts in response to the decision by Congress to cut all funding to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

CT Public has traditionally relied on federal funds – in part – to balance its budget. Many public media stations across the country are being forced to adjust their budgets and plan for a future without federal support. Some may be forced to shutdown. In his statement on the issue, Contreras made no mention of possible spending cuts at CT Public.
